Over two weeks, 140 team leaders from Helsinki City Rescue Department participated in virtual leadership training using Fynd CORE.
The exercise centred on a simulated fire at a youth centre, where four operational units worked together to assess the situation, communicate critical information and coordinate their response.
The objective was not to practise extinguishing the fire, but to strengthen the leadership and communication procedures that support effective emergency response.

Training the decisions behind the response
During an emergency, information comes from multiple directions. Building a shared understanding of the situation requires clear communication, accurate reporting and coordinated decision-making.
In Fynd CORE, participants practised assessing risks, sharing observations over radio and providing status updates while following established emergency response procedures.
Working together in a shared virtual environment allowed leaders to practise how information moves between units and through the chain of command as an incident develops.

Making training more accessible and repeatable
Organising large-scale practical exercises requires considerable time, resources and coordination. Virtual training offers a complementary approach, allowing personnel to practise operational procedures without the same logistical demands.
With Fynd CORE, scenarios can be repeated and adapted, enabling organisations to focus on specific training objectives and provide more opportunities for regular practice.
For Helsinki City Rescue Department, this approach supported the participation of 140 team leaders over just two weeks, with each exercise involving four operational units.

Preparing for real-world incidents
The Helsinki training programme demonstrates how scenario-based virtual training can support leadership development and communication practice across a large group of emergency services personnel.
With Fynd CORE, organisations can make training more accessible and repeatable, creating more opportunities to practise critical leadership and communication skills throughout the year, without the logistical demands of traditional large-scale exercises.
